
A Catholic friar of the Dominican order sings hymns from the pilgrimage prayer book before he and 13 other friars headed out on a pilgrimage on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, from the Dominican House of Studies in Northeast Washington to St. Dominic's Parish in Southwest. This is the first time the friars have held the pilgrimage, which commemorated the date that St. Dominic's body was moved from its original grave to its current resting place in Bologna, Italy. Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
