Hand stitching can be seen on one of the stars on the official 9/11 National flag, which was in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, July 14, 2011. The flag, which was flying just south of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, is making its way around the country and is being stitched back together by Americans, many of whom have suffered their own tragedies. The goal is for the flag to be completed by this Sept. 11, in time for the 10th anniversary of the attacks. (Barbara L. Salisbury/The Washington Times)
