FILE - In this Sept. 19, 2019 file photo, Ed Buck appears in Los Angeles Superior Court in Los Angeles. It took more than two years from the first overdose death in political donor Buck's apartment until his arrest this month. In the time in between, another man died in the West Hollywood home, another had a close brush with death and several others reporting harrowing encounters with the gay white man who preyed on young black men to satisfy a drug-fueled sexual fetish. Activists who pushed for Buck's arrest wonder why it took so long to lock him up. (AP Photo/Damian Dovarganes, File)
