
Central Park (Manhattan, NY) - Central Park is an urban park located in the central part of the borough of Manhattan, New York City. It was expanded from 778 acres to 843 acres in 1873, and was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1962. Some of the parks main attractions are the art and sculptures, including Cleopatra's Needle, The Gates and Strawberry Fields. The Boathouse Cafe, Victorian Gardens, and carriage horses throughout the park are some of the most popular leisure attractions.

A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
