The Liberty Foundation's Boeing B-17 "Memphis Belle" takes off at Martin State Airport, Middle River, Md., Monday, August 25, 2014. The visiting aircraft will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday August 30-31, offering flights as well as ground tours. This B-17 was built toward the end of the war and never saw any combat but was painted in the colors and ose art of the original historic "Memphis Belle" B-17 that flew countless missions with the 91st bomb group of the 8th Airforce and was the first B-17 to complete 25 missions. It is one of only 13 still flying today. (Andrew Harnik/The Washington Times)
