In this Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 photo U.S. Navy veteran Stephen Matthews, 55, sits for a photograph with his son Alexander, center, and daughter Victoria, right, in the bedroom of a relatives home, in Warwick, R.I. Matthews fell in his driveway in 2015, injuring his neck resulting in him getting laid off from his job. After being evicted he and his wife temporarily lived in their car while his children went to live with a relative. The relative then let Matthews and his wife come too. Matthews said he received a voucher that would pay about two-thirds of his rent, but struggled to find an apartment in Rhode Island where he could afford the balance. He got one in West Warwick, R.I. in late December 2016 after a six-month search. (AP Photo/Steven Senne)
