Amid a sharp increase in fatal police shootings in Utah, a rift has developed between officers in Salt Lake County and the prosecutor who investigates them. The Desert News reports that police officers refused to speak with District Attorney Sim Gill's investigators in at least five cases. There were a total of 18 fatal officer-involved shootings in Utah in 2018, triple that of the year before. Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
