The infant riding in the car driven by his mother died after their sedan was rear-ended by the sheriff's patrol vehicle authorities said. The California Highway Patrol said in a statement the woman's car was being followed by a marked sheriff's patrol car on Interstate 5 when the sheriff's vehicle rear-ended the Ford Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, sending it down an embankment "for unknown reasons that are currently under investigation," The Stockton Record reported.
