State police say 22-year-old Tyler Dempsey was driving on Bee Hole Road in Loudon on Sunday night when his vehicle went off the road and rolled onto its side. He wasn't hurt, and a passenger in the back seat sustained a minor head injury. But a front passenger died at the scene. Authorities haven't released the victim's name. A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
