Chandler police say a Ramiriz, called 911 to report that she had strangled her mother after she "snapped" during an altercation with the 80-year-old woman. A police probable-cause statement states Ramirez said she killed her mother Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, after the older woman wouldn't lend the daughter her car and said the daughter was mentally ill. According to the statement released Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, Ramirez also told the 911 dispatcher that she wouldn't perform CPR to try to revive her mother and hoped she was dead. A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
