Mies says there are certain species of bats in Michigan that are being threatened by white-nose syndrome, a fungus that affects and kills bats in the cold environments where they hibernate. Massive wind turbines and the huge loss of bat’s habitat are also threatening the winged animals. (Todd McInturf, The Detroit News via AP)
