In addition to offering recipes, the cookbook tells the remarkable story of Erin French, owner of The Lost Kitchen, a 40-seat restaurant in an old mill in a tiny Maine town. French started cooking as a teenager working in her dad's diner, then gave dinner parties in her apartment before opening the restaurant, which got thousands of calls this year on April 1 when French opened reservations for the season.
