
In this Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 photo released by the Indianapolis Fire Department, authorities rescue two young people who were stranded on a pile of logs after falling into an in an icy creek at an Indianapolis-area park. The Fire Department responded Monday to Southeastway Park and found a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man on the log pile in Buck Creek about 21 feet from land. They used a ladder to bridge the gap and brought them life vests and blankets. The young people were returned to land and checked out at the scene. (The Indianapolis Fire Department via AP)

Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
