ADVANCE FOR MONDAY, JAN 16 AND THEREAFTER - In a Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 photo, Hallie Perkins makes a face at her 2-year-old son Ryker Cole as they play a game of peek-a-boo in West Monroe, La. She put a blanket over her head and he would try to take it off her, giggling when she revealed her face to him. Perkins' relationship with her son, who has Down syndrome, is filled with playfulness. They bond through play, and she talks to him constantly. She said she can tell he understands her, even though he does not talk back yet. (Hannah Baldwin/Monroe News Star via AP)
