Ruan, a professor of mechanical engineering at Purdue, and his graduate students began working on the paint project seven years ago. The resulting highly reflective paint recently earned the title of the world’s whitest paint in the Guinness World Records book. The paint is considered a breakthrough in sustainability that could reduce or even eliminate the need for air conditioning. (John Underwood via AP)
