The Paris, Kentucky, train depot was built in 1882 by what became the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, but was shuttered in 1968. It was a restaurant for nearly two decades, but has spent much of the past 50 years empty and abandoned. The Poynter family just finished restoring it, and it houses Trackside restaurant. Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
