Marylou Yam, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, was named president Thursday, March 20, 2014. She will begin her new duties on July 1. Yam was the first woman to serve as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and School of Business Administration at Saint Peter's. Fifty-six-year-old Yam earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Mercy College in New York. She earned a Ph.D. from Adelphi University, writing her dissertation on a model of how nurses can best care for battered women in emergency room settings. Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
