This NOAA satellite image taken Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at 9:45 AM EDT shows a cold front stretching from the Northeast into the central US. A long the front is a developing low pressure over New England. This is producing heavy rain and thunderstorms. Behind the storm system is an are of high pressure, producing clear skies for the Northern Plains. In the Caribbean region is Hurricane Joaquin. Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
