Wildlife officials said Friday that the bear no longer has to wear bandages on her feet, which were severely burned by a wildfire north of Durango. The cub has more than doubled in size to 26 pounds (12 kilograms) since being spotted by firefighters and has left her cage to live in a pen with other cubs at the center. A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
