People testify on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at a public hearing in the Oregon State Capitol in Salem, Ore., on a controversial climate change bill. So many people came to testify before the Oregon Senate Committee On Environment and Natural Resources that the allotted time for each to speak was reduced to 90 seconds. Loggers expressed concern that the bill would lead to increased costs, and the demise of their business. Others said global warming is an emergency that was already affecting them, and would affect their children and grandchildren even worse. Some onlookers in the hearing room raised their arms when they agreed with something a witness said. (AP Photo/Andrew Selsky)
