This building in Bismarck, N.D., seen Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, is at the center of a construction cost overrun initially estimated at over $1.7 million, incurred under late North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem, who died last year. His successor, sitting Attorney General Drew Wrigley, disclosed the overrun to state lawmakers in June 2022. A legislative audit panel in September 2022 sought an outside investigation into the overrun, resulting in a report recently furnished by a Montana state investigator. The panel is expected to meet this fall to review the report and to decide whether to forward it to an outside prosecutor for evaluation for charges. (AP Photo/Jack Dura)
