Police say a Rochester Hills man was arrested Tuesday, March 11 for violation of the Tobacco Products Tax Act after the discovery in Sterling Heights. Police say a number of brands of cigars were seized. Police say the man, whose name wasn't immediately released, is believed to be part of a large, organized tobacco smuggling ring operating in the Detroit area. A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
