The performance is a tribute to the late folk singer Odetta Holmes who some called the voice of the Civil Rights movement. “Odetta,” which features a cast of 11 dancers, will be performed frequently during the company’s current season at New York City Center, including a matinee on Dec. 31, which happens to be Odetta’s birthday. Then, it will travel the country as the company embarks on a 19-city national tour, beginning in February. (AP Photo/Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Steve Wilson)
