Josh Hummer, a former state correctional officer, is the first among 15 indicted officers to go to trial on federal charges stemming from Davis' beating. Jury selection for Hummer's trial begins Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 in Baltimore. Twelve have pleaded out, but Hummer denies allegations that he failed to stop the assault, ignored the inmate's serious injuries and obstructed the investigation.
