
Tow operators work to remove the cab of a tractor trailer that crashed into an overpass on Interstate 84 in Vernon Conn. and plunged onto Route 31 below. The accident occurred shortly before midnight on Thursday February 13, 2014 as the tractor trailer was headed westbound when it struck the over pass near exit 67 and rolled off the highway onto the road below. A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
