Marilyn Monroe 1926-1962 - the actress and sex symbol was married three times, rumored to have had numerous affairs and made as much as 30 films. The final years of Monroe's life were marked by illness, personal problems, and a reputation for unreliability and being difficult to work with. The circumstances of her death, from an overdose of barbiturates, have been the subject of conjecture. Though officially classified as a 'probable suicide', the possibilities of an accidental overdose or a homicide have not been ruled out. She died at the age of 36. A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
