Louisiana Bayou - Alligator - Louisiana has the largest population of alligators in the United States. The "beast of the bayou" is a top predator and a trophy worthy of any big game hunter. After having been on the endangered species list in the 1970s, alligator populations made a huge comeback. Trophy hunts generally range from 8-12 feet, but can be up to 14 feet or more. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries issues harvest tags for property containing sufficient alligator habitat capable of sustaining an alligator harvest. Alligator hunters apply for alligator tags prior to the season. Non-residents can only harvest alligators as an alligator sport hunter while accompanied by a guide. 2015 Louisiana Alligator Season is from August 26th to September 19th.

Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
