Dr. Päivi Räsänen, a Finnish member of parliament and the nation's former interior minister, went on trial on Jan. 24 in Helsinki over comments she believes express her religious beliefs on homosexuality. She was found not guilty by a trial court, but Finland’s prosecutor general filed an appeal of the March 30 Helsinki District Court ruling exonerating Ms. Räsänen and Lutheran bishop Juhana Pohjola on criminal “hate speech” charges. Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
