
The Washington National Cathedral's Dean Gary Hall announced June 25, 2015, "It's time to remove stain glass windows that honor confederate history." The The National Cathedral installed two stained glass windows in 1953 with a variety of scenes seeking to depict American history in a way that promoted healing and reconciliation, but in 2015 in good conscience can not justify the presence of the Confederate flag in a house of prayer for all people. Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
