Uruguay President Jose “Pepe” Mujica entered politics after spending 14 years in prison during Uruguay’s dictatorship. The 77-year-old has created a man-of-the-people image during his time in office, giving away 90 percent of his salary, deciding not to have a bank account, driving a 41-year-old car and never wearing a tie. Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
