On Friday, April 4th, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled that gays and lesbians could legally marry… in Iowa.
Arguments from conservatives were shot down, and even though it seems some staunch moral and religious groups are planning on continuing the fight, they may not have a pew to stand on.
A representative from the Roman Catholic Bishops of Iowa stated, “This decision rejects the wisdom of thousands of years of human history. It implements a novel understanding of marriage, which will grievously harm families and children.”
Really, guys. I don’t where you’ve been, but from where I sit — working with kids from different types of families daily, things haven’t been good for them for quite some time.
Hard to imagine that a few thousand same sex couples raising children will mean the end of humanity as we know it. Children need love and guidance from good people.
So far in my life experiences, sexual orientation has not been indicative of a person’s basic goodness.
