Over at the website of the Center for Individual Freedom, I write this morning of the bad state of affairs in the Gulf region one year after the BP oil spill. Naturally, a large part of the blame can be laid at the feet of President Barack Obama. Here’s something I wasn’t able to put in: While most people know about the administration being held in contempt of court for its imposition of the drilling moratorium, it’s less widely known that a second suit is still pending, relating not to the full moratorium but to the ongoing permitting slowdown . In short, the administration is still under fire, and deservedly so. As the Washington Times editorial today noted, “In the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon tragedy, nothing short of a rapid reversal of White House efforts to bottle up American’s energy resources can stave off long-term damage to the nation’s economic future.”
