MSNBC’s Keith Olberman raised the bar for bizarre in a Monday night segment on his show “Countdown with Keith Olberman.”
The MSNBC host mocked Delaware Republican Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell again today with a six-minute clip bordering on hallucination. O’Donnell has gone on record about dabbling in witchcraft and having a father, Daniel O’Donnell, who briefly played Bozo the Clown. Amused by these remarks, Olberman had comedian Angry Bob and Michael Musto appear in costume in a farcical “newscast” taking sarcastic jabs at O’Donnell’s life story. Bob portrayed a belligerent version of Bozo, while Musto played a bitter, green-skinned witch.
The in-character sketch produced such bits as “Mr. Zo the Clown” deriding O’Donnell’s father for “dabbling” in clowning and a “random witch” saying “We’ve all had a Satanic picnic or two, but I think she’s holding back.”
Mediaite’s Glenn Davis is already hailing the tongue-in-cheek-talk as “one of the strangest six minutes of television ever committed to the small screen.” Davis’ take on the clip can be found here and the MSNBC video is available here.
