It just makes good sense to get rid of something that’s working. At least, that’s what the Israeli military seems to think. Israel Defense Forces announced Thursday that “[a]s a result of the stable security situation in the area” an eight-year-old concrete barrier separating the Jerusalem neighborhood of Gilo and the Arab town of Beit Jala will be removed.
From 2000 to 2002 - right around the beginning of the Second Intifada - at least 21 people were murdered and more than 70 injured in terrorist attacks in or around Gilo or Beit Jala. The number killed after the barrier was put up: 1.
SEE RELATED:It should be obvious to anyone with a modicum of reason or a kindergarten-level education that it’s the barrier, stupid. Removing it will only see the incidence of terrorist acts rise. Why isn’t as much obvious to the IDF?
