A new poll shows Nevada Democratic Sen. Harry Reid holding a slim 2-point lead over Republican Senate challenger Sharron Angle.
The poll, released Sunday by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research on behalf of the Las Vegas Review-Journal and 8NewsNow, shows Reid — the Senate’s majority leader — with a 46 percent to 44 percent lead over Angle. That’s nearly unchanged from two weeks ago, when Reid topped Angle 45-44.
The economy and jobs are the top issues for voters in Nevada, a state suffering from the highest unemployment rate in the nation at 14.3 percent, the survey says.
Despite Reid spending millions of dollars in negative ads against Angle, 19 percent of voters have a neutral opinion of Angle, compared with 7 percent who have a neutral opinion of Reid, the Review-Journal reported.
Reid remains slightly more unpopular than Angle. Fifty-two percent view him unfavorably, compared with 41 percent with a favorable opinion, the survey says.
