Vice President Cheney will attend Tuesday’s inauguration ceremony in a wheelchair, after pulling a muscle in his back on Monday while moving boxes.
“Under his physician’s recommendation, the vice president will be in a wheelchair for the next couple of days, including for tomorrow’s inauguration,” said White House press secretary Dana Perino. “The vice president is looking forward to being there for tomorrow’s historic inaugural activities.”
Mr. Cheney, who turns 68 on Jan. 30, has had a history of cardiovascular health problems, dating back to 1978. Since then he has had four heart attacks, the latest in 2000, and three open-heart surgeries.
