Maryland’s first injury issue of preseason camp arrived even before the first practice.
It does not appear, though, to be as serious as it could have been.
SEE RELATED:Sophomore kicker Michael Tart underwent an MRI exam after reporting to camp with a foot injury suffered while working a summer job. And while he did not practice Tuesday, coach Randy Edsall said the MRI did not reveal a tear.
“They’ll just continue to treat him and as soon as he’s able to come back out [he will],” Edsall said. “He can hold right now, but he can’t do any of the kicking right now.”
Tart entered camp as the No. 2 kicker behind senior Nick Ferrara. He played in one game last season, replacing an injured Ferrara in the season finale. He was 2-for-3 on extra points.
Tart was one of two players who spent much of Tuesday’s session on a stationary bike. The other was tight end Daniel Adams, who underwent foot surgery over the summer. Adams is sitting out this season after transferring from New Mexico.
