Tracking the EagleBank Bowl tie-ins

Time for the weekly look in on the EagleBank Bowl’s tie-ins.

First up: Army, which collected a significant overtime victory, toppling Vanderbilt to get to 3-3.

The Black Knights, by the way, won three games all of last season. With North Texas (1-4) and VMI (1-4) still to come, it’s increasingly possible to see Army reaching its first bowl game since 1996 —- and it would be Dec. 29 at RFK Stadium.

Moving along to the ACC, where Maryland and Florida State’s situations grew more dire while Virginia (2-3) has nearly dug itself out of the hole created by its three-game skid to start the season.

Imagine if the Cavaliers hadn’t lost to William & Mary. They’d be 3-2, with Maryland and Duke on the horizon before month’s end.

And as for the secondary tie-in, Marshall collected its fourth victory over the weekend, and given its geographic proximity would probably be near the top of the bowl’s wish list if one of its other affiliations doesn’t come through with a team.
