Maryland coach Gary Williams wanted some national recognition in the rankings this week.

He’ll have to settle for a de facto No. 40 ranking and some praise from three voters in the AP poll.

Thanks, as always, to the folks over at Pollstalker who collate all this stuff. But here are the three people who combined to give Maryland 25 points in this week’s rankings:

* Mark Berman, Roanoke Times: 10th
* Paul Klee, Champaign News-Gazette: 20th
* Dave Jones, (Harrisburg) Patriot-News: 23rd

So there it is, for now anyway. Bank on Maryland receiving some more votes if it knocks off Morgan State and Georgia Tech at home this week.
