Catching up on something I missed from a few days ago. …
You might remember from a couple weeks ago a dead-tree edition feature on Matt Kelly, a four-year starter on Virginia’s lacrosse team who went out for the Cavaliers’ football team this fall in the hopes he might play on special teams.
SEE RELATED:It didn’t end especially well for the Illinois native. According to this and this, Kelly suffered a torn ACL and will miss the season.
It effectively ends his career, too, since this is Kelly’s fifth year at Virginia.
Clearly, this wasn’t a big name on the Cavaliers’ team this year, but it does represent a lost chance at filling in a gap for Kelly, a football fanatic. He had a chance to play football out of high school at a lower division, but instead opted to play lacrosse at Virginia. It’s just a shame his last crack at football ended so quickly.
