The good news for Maryland: The Terps broke out some trickery on its first drive.
The bad news: History says that might be a month’s worth.
SEE RELATED:In any case, Darrius Heyward-Bey is clearly a vital part of things today. Maryland threw a pair of short passes to him early in the first drive, went deep to keep the Demon Deacons honest and then had him open for a Da’Rel Scott touchdown pass.
One bit of luck already in Maryland’s favor: Edwin Williams recovering a Scott fumble. Edwin is normally a happy guy, but he was simply ecstatic about that recovery.
It’s 7-0 after one possessione ach. 6:15 left in the first.
