It doesn’t seem like this week decided much of anything.
The SEC powers remained on their collision course. The three best Big 12 teams all won, and their head-to-head performances against each other didn’t change.
SEE RELATED:Southern Cal demolished Notre Dame (really, Charlie, you needed three quarters to get a first down?). Boise State won, and Penn State and Utah were already in the clubhouse.
Based on accomplishment (with overtime wins considered a little differently), this is probably the right rundown. But for the sake of argument, a case can be made the unbeaten team at the top is actually No. 5 (behind, in some order, Florida, Oklahoma, Southern Cal and Texas).
The good thing for Alabama is it can stifle any possible criticism with a victory over Florida. When an SEC team is 13-0 at season’s end, it should probably play for a national title. Unless it’s Auburn, it’s a 12-0 season and it’s 2004. The stars line up funny sometimes.
Anyway, here’s this week’s rankings; I’ll add in the AP poll from this week later in the day (UPDATE at 1:10 p.m. with AP poll results).
