I admit it, I get bored while I watch a blowout in progress. And thanks to Al Gore‘s Invention, there are plenty of worthwhile but productive distractions while covering a bad game.

Like looking at scores of other games I’m interested in, too.

Of course, my perusal of the scoreboard last night drew some attention from one of the students seated right behind the press table at midcourt. And one asked —- right around 9:20 last night —- “What’s the Carolina score?”

“15-3,” I answered, the Tar Heels’ rout of Kentucky well underway.

“Never mind,” was the reply.

And that was that for the score updates.

For one night, anyway.
