Navy's thinning secondary

PHILADELPHIA —- Just got word Navy safety Emmett Merchant suffered a concussion earlier and will not return.

That’s three key members of the Midshipmen’s secondary who are unavailable.

Cornerback Ketric Buffin was injured last week against Northern Illinois. Rashawn King is home with his family after the death of his father.

Army, meanwhile, hasn’t run a play inside the Navy 30, and Cadets quarterback Chip Bowden is 3-for-7 for 23 yards.
