Maryland linebacker Moise Fokou has an appointment in Baltimore related to trying to become a U.S. citizen on Thursday afternoon.
He sounded very much like an American college student when asked to describe the process.
SEE RELATED:“My mom handled most of it,” he said. “I just show up. She made sure I signed where I had to sign.”
Fokou, who was born in Cameroon and moved to the States before he entered first grade, explained there was a two-to-three year waiting period as part of the application process. He wasn’t entirely sure what would occur during the appointment, but figured it would probably involve a test and probably would not be the actual swearing in of a new citizen.
So, has he studied hard to prepare?
“I think I should do OK,” he said before starting to crack up. “I’ve been here a long time. The funny thing I hear is that at least 70 percent of Americans can’t pass it, either, which is is hilarious.”
You can’t argue with (presumably) soon-to-be Citizen Fokou on that one.
