It’s a nasty day here at Wrigley Field, but it looks like the Nats and Cubs will be able to get their series finale in. There’s a massive rain system hovering over the Midwest, and it’s already dumped a lot of rain on Chicago. But it appears to be staying just to the north of town this afternoon, perhaps allowing this game to be played.
That doesn’t mean the conditions will be pleasant. The wind is blowing in from right field. The grass is wet. Everyone’s wearing parkas and windbreakers and raingear. Well, everyone except your trusty beat reporter, who inexplicably showed up in Chicago without so much as a long-sleeve shirt. As someone who lived here for four years while in college, I am disgusted with myself for not knowing better. It doesn’t matter that it’s late August. In Chicago, you never know when you might need cold-weather gear.
