We’re only three innings into the season and already some nasty old habits are creeping up for the Nationals. The Marlins are doing everything right, the Nats are doing everything wrong and Florida has opened up a 6-0 lead.
— New leadoff man Lastings Milledge swung at the very first pitch of the season and grounded out to second.
— Cristian Guzman, Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Dunn all struck out in order, and Austin Kearns struck out swinging at a high 0-2 fastball from Ricky Nolasco.
— Ex-Nat Emilio Bonifacio has already singled twice, stolen two bases, scored two runs and made a diving catch.
— Dunn misplayed a line drive to left field, taking a step in before retreating and coming up short on what turned into an RBI double.
— And John Lannan has been falling behind hitters and paying the price, including serving up towering homers on a 3-0 pitch to Jorge Cantu and a 2-1 pitch to Jeremy Hermida.
Wow, what else could go wrong?
