Manny Acta keeps talking about the blown leads by his bullpen being deflating, and maybe this is a side effect of that. The Nats just haven’t been in this one from the beginning, swinging early in the count and generally just getting mediocre at-bats. It’s 6-1 Phillies after six.
John Lannan gave up another homer to Chase Utley in the fifth, and left having thrown 53 of his 83 pitches for strikes. That’s a very low ratio for Lannan, who has struggled with pounding the strike zone more than you’d expect this year.
