The Nationals and Cardinals will try it again at 1:10 p.m. tomorrow. John Lannan and Todd Wellemeyer, who were supposed to start tonight, will start the first game. As for the starter who will replace the injured Odalis Perez on Saturday, neither manager Manny Acta nor general manager Jim Bowden was giving any hints, other than Acta saying it will be someone from Class AAA Columbus. Tyler Clippard was pulled after two shutout innings tonight, but Acta said he wasn’t “up to speed why” Clippard left. In response to the theory that Clippard, who was 4-1 for Columbus in May, was getting called up, Acta said, “It’s a good guess. You guys are smart enough.” So there you have it. We’ll let you know when the team announces a move. Here’s to a drier tomorrow.
