Officials at Yosemite National Park in California closed the park through Friday because of major snowfall and the threat of falling trees.
Park officials announced the closure Thursday afternoon. Visitors with lodging reservations inside the park can still enter the park via California State Route 140, they said.
A tree fell onto a building being used as a dormitory by employees of the park’s concessions supplier while the workers were asleep on Thursday morning. There were no injuries, according to SFGATE.
The employees were evacuated to a pavilion elsewhere in the park, according to the publication.
The Yosemite Valley and the national park have been hit with about four feet of snow, up to 52 inches in some areas, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The temporary closure came a day after Yosemite officials announced the park would be scrapping its timed-entry reservation system for visitors starting this summer.
